被災した釜石市民文化会館の再建であり、中心市街地のにぎわい再生拠点として建設されました。838席の大ホールは、高度な音響設計によって形状が計画された木質系の複雑な内壁を有し、コンサートホールとしての高い機能を備えています。また、大ホールは平土間展開できるつくりになっており、大・小二つのホールから大屋根広場まで総長77メートルの連続都市広場が出現します。2018年グッドデザイン賞受賞。

“TETTO” is constructed on the site where the civic center, destroyed by the tsunami, was previously located. The building is used as a center for civic activities promoting revitalization of the area. The larger hall has 838 seats and wooden walls which architects carefully designed to promote better acoustics, making the hall the best place to hold music concerts. Also, the seats of the larger hall are removable allowing the parquet floor of the theater to be flat. By connecting the larger and smaller halls, a 77 meter-long space with a large roof appears, harmonizing the building with the outside landscape. TETTO won the award of the Good Design Special Award in 2018.
